- Hi, my name is Melissa. Having to do this strips away every ounce of pride I felt for rebuilding a life for my son, Sean & I after my husband died in 2019. With the love & help from family & friends, a lot of hard work & help from a rental assistance program. I was able to start a new life for Sean & I. About a year ago, my health began to decline. I worked cleaning houses & by the time I got home I would be unable to walk. I subsequently lost all feeling in my hands & am currently seeing several Dr.'s & specialists. And just 2wks ago a mass was discovered on my abdomen. I've been unable to work & was also just informed that the funding was cut for the rental assistance I was receiving. The saying, When it rains, it pours, isn't a strong enough phrase to describe the situation we're in. My son & I are about to lose everything we worked so hard to rebuild. Asking for help is not something I'm good at doing. At all. I'm a proud woman & this is extremely hard for me to do. But I'm also a mom who would do anything for her son. And knowing when it's time to ask for help to keep him from another loss, is just what I have to do. Please, any help that would keep us from being locked out of our home & losing everything, would be appreciated more than I could ever express. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
