To Keep Fergus Comfortable and Happy (URGENT)

This is my cat Fergus.

Fergus has so much love in him that this valentines day 14/02/24 he was diagnosed with heart disease as his heart has grown too big.

We have now found as of the 15th Fergus is at the start of congestive heart failure and also has HOCM (Severe Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy phenotype). The vets have told us some cats can live this however it is unlikely as most live for 6-18 months with these conditions.

Why the GoFund me then?

To keep Fergus out of pain and keep him comfortable he needs medications and checkups at the vet. I myself have a low income due to my disabilities and have already spent everything I have alongside putting myself into debt in order to get him where he is now.

I owe this to him he is more then just a pet, he has been with me since I was 15. He is a special cat ,friendly and caring. He sits with me when I have anxiety attacks and kisses my face to wipe away tears. He is my best friend and I will not sit by and let him experience an ounce of pain that is within my control.

If love alone could cure him it would do just that tenfold, but for now all I can do is ask for some help and thats where you come in. I have listed below the estimated costs that the vet has given us. If you can give any amount, even if it is only small, it will be put to keeping the best boy happy and taken care off.

Below you will find the cost breakdown Fergus is going to need to live pain free for the remainder of his life:

Vet appointments:

-emergency consultation- £195

-Diagnostic Procedures- £1200

-Check ups-£750 x (every 3- 4 months he is still with us)

-18 months-£3857.14

+ inital check up 7-10 days after he began his meds

=£6000,20

He has been offered a test to check his heart rate during his time at home, this would give the vets a better idea of where he is up to, this is called a Holter monitor. He would wear little heart monitors on his chest with a t-shirt over it for 24-72 hours, However, unless this would prolong a pain free life, I will be opting out as it could make him feel uncomfortable and worried which we want to avoid. If it isn't going to benefit him greatly we do not see reason to worry him. Therefore we wont be including this in the total but it would be between £800-£1000.

Medicines:

- £60 a month

18 months- £1080

Percutions:

Long Sleep medicine- £150

His Total Predicted costs: £7230.20

As you can see we are asking for a little less then this as we will also be putting everything we can towards the bills. While still affording to keep a roof over our little family's head and the best cat food and supplies for Fergus!

In the event that we lose Fergus and have remaining fund, we would donate to the PDSA a vets that helps low income pet owners receive vet treatment for their pets. They are currently over run and cannot take on new clients so would hugely benefit from this. We would also keep some of the fund and put them into a savings account for Kobe (Our other Fur-baby, Fergus's best friend.)
