To honor my brother Phil Povia

Donation protected

Almost two weeks ago, I lost my brother to covid. We are devastated and heartbroken.  This loss has hit my family hard. It happened so fast that I barely had time to process it. I still am truthfully. I miss him so much already. His spunky, silly and stubborn personality was well known to all of those who knew him. He loved my children like they were his own. So, I want to honor him. It's a small thing really, but by small and simple things, great things can be done.
It takes courage to ask for help. So here I am.......trying to be courageous. In honor of my brother Phil, I wanted to reach out to family and friends to try to raise some money to help cover the medical expenses, Memorial Service expenses and any other expenses that he left behind. None of us expect to lose someone so close to us.  Phil had been through so much with his battle with Leukemia over the last few years, and it has taken its toll on his family emotionally, physically, and financially as well. It is my goal to help alleviate some of the costs and ease the burden that has fallen on his wife. I want to be sure that she is taken care of, as I promised him that I would look after her.
We appreciate any donation that you might feel inclined to give! ❤
Thank you to all of those that have already reached out wanting to help! We appreciate you more than you know! ❤

 We love you Phil!

I wanted to also include some words that were written about him by my sister and other family members (his obituary) It tells more of his story.  ❤

Phillip Povia
1981 - 2021

Phillip Charles Povia, age 40 of St. Augustine, passed away on July 22, 2021, surrounded by his wife and sister. Phil was born on April 29, 1981 in St. Augustine to Nancy Ann Kidd Povia and Barry Felix Povia. He was the older brother to Dana Tilton, Mary Herrington, and Michael Povia. From a very young age, he was good-natured, kind-hearted, curious and especially stubborn. He loved to read, fish, go to the beach, and listen to music.
Phil met his wife Candace (Kirby) through a friend and they were married December 29, 2012. Throughout the years they've raised many pets.
Phil was a hard worker and took pride in contributing to society through his jobs. He most notably worked at the City of St. Augustine as a sign and pavement technician. He loved working in an environment that kept him busy and active with other people. He was known for his social skills. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to share. He looked for any opportunity to be goofy and make others laugh.
Along with being a devoted husband, Phil was a playful and loving uncle. He treated his nieces and nephews as his own. He would help care for them, but would also rough-house and let them "beat him up"! He was known as the favorite uncle. He meant so much to them.
Phil was a very good friend. He would go fishing with his friend Nick often. He loved watching wrestling, messing around on his four-wheeler, and playing video games with his brother.
Phil was diagnosed with AML in August 2019. He was determined to fight his cancer and underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and a stem-cell transplant, which proved to be successful. Unfortunately, after 100 days post-transplant, he developed GVHD and began having liver, kidney, and lung issues.
After contracting COVID-19 pneumonia he couldn't fight anymore. He was extremely grateful for the AML family he made through various Facebook support groups. His family is eternally grateful to his wife Candance, who was there at his side, fighting that fight with him. Phil is no longer in pain; no more needles, medicines or procedures!
Phil is survived by his wife Candace Kirby Povia, his son Clayton Pollock, his mother Nancy Povia, father Barry Povia, sisters Dana (Jacob) Tilton, Mary (Craig) Herrington, and brother Michael (Amanda) Povia. He is also survived by his 7 nieces and nephews: Talon, Cale and Aria Tilton; Colton and Everly Herrington; RyLynn, Leo, and soon to welcome Willow Povia.
Arrangements for cremation are being made through Craig Funeral Home. All of those who wish to pay their respects may do so at a Memorial Service on August 14, 2021 at 11:00am at 500 Deltona Blvd. St. Augustine, FL 32086. A luncheon and milkshake bar will be held after the service for anyone who would like to stay and reminisce with the family.
