Hello, my name is Andrea Brown and we as a family are reaching out to you because our brother Malcolm Lomax was diagnosed with cancer back on February 8th 2022. What he thought was a bad case of indigestion turned into something he could never imagined. After a trip to the hospital test revealed that he had cancer (signet ring cell carcinoma) and surgery was immediately scheduled for February 14. Unfortunately that surgery was not successful and he would need to undergo chemo in the hopes of shrinking the cancer. If the chemo was successful he would be able to go back for a second chance of removing the cancer, that chance came June 20th. We all had high expectations that due to the chemo and advisory of the surgeon that he could get it removed. Unfortunately the 2nd attempt was not successful either, and he would advised at that point chemo would be needed indefinitely, and it appeared that his physician had reached his level of care and decided that chemo forever would be his only option.
Chemo has taken a toll on his overall ability to live a normal day to day life and be the provider that he is use to being for his family, Chemo is very hard on the body and he is no longer able to work, and that also caused him to lose his health insurance coverage. Without the proper insurance healthcare option are limited and we feel that there are doctors out there that are able to help restore his health.
As a family we all do what we can to help bridge the gap and help him maintain some level of normalcy there has been help from family, friends and the community but medical expenses and the daily cost to take care of a household is a continuous need. We would love to help reduce the worries and stress caused by this unforeseen hit to his health. We are not sure what amount would be sufficient to help him during this time. We are just setting the goal at 50,000 at this time because we know that healthcare and chemo can be expensive. We love our brother, family members, and friends to so many of you and we just want to be able to help him beyond what we can do. There has been help from family, friends, and the community and we are greatly appreciative for everything that everyone has done.
We would like to thank you all in advance for being there to help bridge that gap, no gift is to small and every dollar count. Even if you are not able to provide a monetary donation we would like to thank you for your thoughts, prayers, encouraging words, calls and messages just to check on him. Also we would be more than grateful if you could share this link so that we can get him the support he is in need of at this time. We are extremely grateful for your support and love that you have shown to our love one.
THANK YOU, Lomax and Brown Family
