Hi, my name is Linda Baines. I am a Community First Responder for Flash and Longnor, as well as a local resident.
I have set up this GoFundMe for David — someone so many of us in the village and surrounding areas know, rely on, and think highly of.
David has been a familiar and valued part of our community for years. Self-employed and always busy, he’s the person countless people turn to — whether it’s for gardening, handyman jobs, cleaning, or just getting something sorted. For many, he’s been their “right-hand man” — dependable, hardworking, and always doing a brilliant job.
Recently, David suffered a sudden and unexpected stroke in his early 40s. This has come as a huge shock to everyone who knows him, especially as he has always been so fit, active, and constantly on the go.
He is currently still in hospital and is at the very beginning of what is likely to be a long recovery journey.
I am hoping, that as a community, we can come together and support David in a practical way during this incredibly difficult time.
In the short term, funds will help provide things to make his hospital stay more comfortable — such as a portable tablet and headphones to keep him occupied and mentally engaged, along with clothing, pyjamas, and small comforts.
Looking ahead, David may need additional support when he returns home until he regains his independence. At this stage, we simply don’t know exactly what will be needed, but we want to be prepared to support him as best we can.
If you know David, you’ll understand just how much he’s been a part of people’s day-to-day lives. This is our chance as a community to support him when he needs it most.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean a great deal. And if you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this page would also be hugely appreciated.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
