What is A JOURNEY WITH WORDS and what is our mission?
It’s a registered non-profit organization set up by me, Phatima, and still in its very early start-up phase! A JOURNEY WITH WORDS is very important to me because I want the joy of reading to be accessible to ALL children. By profession, I am a children’s librarian, and I absolutely love curating books for young readers. Unfortunately, my observation has been (and research supports) that underprivileged children have less access to books at home and even less access to books at home that they can culturally identify with.
This breaks my heart and so A JOURNEY WITH WORDS aims to provide curated book boxes filled with not only good culturally relevant books, but accessories and tools to go along with each story! Book lovers know that the words in a book can “Take.You.Away”! We want the thousands of underprivileged children in our communities to experience this same wonder – FOR FREE. Let’s face it – you can’t eat books and you can’t live under them either. The families of the children we serve don’t have the luxury of buying book subscription boxes, but they should STILL HAVE ACCESS and OPPORTUNITY!
We need your help.
What we need YOUR HELP with?
The book boxes will include books and supporting accessories which we estimate to cost between $15 to $20 a box. We need your help to fund this gift to our served children. We are raising funds for this journey experience so their families can focus on caring for the child’s other needs.
We need your help and hope that you will contribute. Understand that EVERY contribution matters and gets us closer to the goal.

The website is almost Mobile-Ready, but in the meantime you should be able to view it on a desktop for sure!
