Please take the time to read Paul and Nicola’s story.
On the 21st of July Nicola and Paul went to Benidorm for a little break away after having a tough year due to Paul having some health problem’s and Paul having to have a illeostomy. Nicola and Paul decided to cancel their holiday to Greece and book Benidorm as they knew it well and it wasn’t far from home and Paul was told he was able to go and enjoy himself as he was living well with he’s ileostomy with no problems and was awaiting reversal.
On Tuesday the 23rd of July Paul become unwell and had to attend the Imed lavante private hospital in Benidorm. He was sent home the day after with gastroenteritis. Paul still didn’t feel 100% and on Thursday the 25th of July he started to vomit faeces.
Nicola immediately took him back the the private hospital Imed Lavante where he was seen, had a ct and rushed straight theatre as he’s bowel was blocked and had perforated a hernia he had.
Paul was taking straight to intensive care to recover from the surgery and be treated for toxins and infection in he’s body. Paul is a very anxious man as is it and being in a different country it was very overwhelming, emotional and tough for both Paul and Nicola. The hospital treated Paul as they should and when fit moved him out of intensive care and onto a ward where he was still being treated for infection.
At this point Nicola was behind the scenes sorting out Paul’s insurance, speaking to relevant people about the whole situation, sorting extra accommodation for herself as they was due home on the 27th of July aswell as being back and forth to the hospital daily. Samantha and Gemma their daughters flew out to Benidorm on 28/7/2024-2/8/2024 to assist Nicola and Paul in such difficult times, Nicola then had to leave her hotel she initially went on holiday to, had to book in the same hotel had her daughters and once they left she had to find more accommodation which was closer to the hospital to make it easier and cheaper for her to get to Paul. This accommodation was not suitable and mum had to leave due to how run down this was and not sleepable and that’s all Nicola wanted was somewhere to get her head down and be close to Paul. So Nicola then had to pay another €1200 to move accommodation suitable for her and in close proximity of the hospital.
Paul was discharged from Imed Lavante hospital on Monday the 5th of August with antibiotics and pain medications.
The surgery Paul had at Imed Lavante private hospital was, he’s hernia repaired, and ileostomy reversed.
Not 8 hours later Paul was again vommiting faeces. So again Nicola rushed Paul off back to the private hospital Imed Lavante, where they demanded €1000 off her for Paul just to been seen, nicola without a doubt paid this as it was again a matter of life or death. After being seen they told him that he’s bowel had some kind of blockage again after him only being discharged 8 hours prior. They again demanded another €2000 euros for him to be admitted and stay overnight. They had insurance so they didn’t pay this and nicola decided to take Paul to the public hospital. He was admitted, had ct scans and was told he needed further surgery to fix what Imed Lavante hadn’t. The public hospital told Paul that Imed Lavante hadnt stitched him up correctly inside which had cause he’s bowel to leak poisoning him,
Paul had to undergo another 6 hour surgery and again is very lucky to be alive. Nicola then had to pay another €1000 to extend her stay as there was no signs of Paul coming out of hospital following a major surgery.

Paul is now day 4 in the public hospital and has been seen by the surgeon post second operation and was informed that the surgery he had at the PRIVATE Imed lavante hospital had stiched part of his bowel to him and left the other half open instead of putting it back together which has cause he’s bowel to leak inside of him poisoning him! Paul’s life has been put in danger twice by the private hospital now and alls they’ve done is demanded thousands of pounds, nearly €40000 to be exact ( which is currently being dealt with hopefully by insurance) and they showed no remorse.
Paul is currently in intensive care again at the public hospital where he is now being very well cared for and Nicola and Paul feel so much more relaxed because of the care they have received. The next 48 hours of pauls life a vital for his body to start working again as it should, other wise Paul will have to have another major surgery to put the ileostomy back for him to be able to survive this horrendous time.
Paul has to have another 2 week stay hospital making it nearly 4 weeks being in hospital over there in benidorm and Nicola next week will now again have to find another hotel on the 17th to accommodate her why Paul recovers.

The purpose of this, is to ask for some support to help Nicola and Paul, they’ve already spent over £4000 if not more in just accommodation, taxis, food, prescriptions and medical care and as you can imagine this is now becoming difficult to fund.
Nicola is on her own out there as she needs to support Paul as much as she can but also be able to look after herself in the mean time.
