My name is Merin Abraham. I came to the United States from India after marriage, leaving behind my medical career. I put it on hold when I came here, for the sake of my son. He came as the most beautiful surprise and is the reason I fight to stay in the US.
Every time I made a decision that deviated from my goal of being a doctor here, I always told myself that one day I'd return to my purpose and rebuild my career.
After my divorce, I thought that time had finally come. I had worked hard, passed exams, and earned a place in medical residency here in the U.S. I believed that after just three more years, everything I had sacrificed for would finally fall into place.
But last year, a serious car accident changed everything. It's hard to describe how quickly life can fall apart when you lose your health, your stability, and your support system all at once. Since then, I've struggled with things I never imagined I would face — including homelessness.
I've spent my life studying and helping others heal, and now I find myself in the humbling position of asking for help to heal my own life. I'm doing everything I can to get back on my feet — but I can't do it alone anymore.
This fundraiser is to help me find a safe and stable place to live while I work toward recovery and rebuilding my future. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps me move one step closer to safety, stability, and hope.
If you can't donate, please consider sharing my story — that small act of kindness can make a huge difference too.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me fight for a chance to start again.
