This is Ambos — a (Partly) husky mixed bread with one blue eye and one brown (hence the name- ambos = both in spanish) . I met her while working at a hostel on Isla Mujeres, Mexico. She was rescued in awful condition — starving, nearly dead — but with food, love, and a volunteer vet, she survived.
I was introduced to ambos by a friend who also had been volunteering in the same hostel as i, but she was leaving, she asked me if i would watch over ambos while i was living there, i said yes.
Ambos struggles with anxiety and trust issues from her past experiences, although she is a calm and friendly dog, and was loved by many at the hostel, she was not allowed in the inside to sleep, the heat became to much for her at times and the sand irritated her skin, people she became close to always left, but still she persevered and added much love to the staffs environment at the hostel. She chose to stay.
After spending some time with Ambos, i taught her basic tricks like "sit" and "give paw"
i gave her baths and took her to the beach with me.
We’ve been inseparable ever since.
I had spent so much time with her, bonded, i didn't want her to ever wonder if i, one day would leave too, and never see her again.
it broke my heart to think this would be her life cycle; she is too precious to be left behind every time a traveller's trip ends.
I’m returning to the UK this Christmas, and I want to bring Ambos with me. She’s deeply attached to me, and the Mexican heat is tough on her. She deserves a stable loving life, and I can give her that back home.
But transporting a dog internationally is expensive taking into account flights, vet documents, the crate, costumes and cargo handling the total comes together £4,000–£6,000 in total, unfortunately, this is more than i can handle on my own right now.
If you can help us reunite in the UK — even with a small donation — we’d be so grateful. If not, sharing this would still mean the world. ❤️
Thank you,
