Stronger than a Brain Tumor
For those who are not aware of Kevin’s entire story, we would like to tell you about Kevin’s journey with brain cancer. In the summer of 2023, Kevin was diagnosed with brain tumor called Astrocytoma. Earlier in the year Kevin was experiencing headaches which be considered to feel more like migraines. He dealt with them on a daily basis for about 2 to 3 months. He chalked it up to stress and a busy life.
While at work one day in June, the headaches got so bad, his over the counter headache medicine stopped working. His headache was so bad it was affecting his ability to finish his workday and his focus was on nothing but his splitting headache. That is when he decided to take himself to Mercy Hospital. He called his girlfriend, Angie, to let her know his plan, he would not be home at his normal time, and she met him at the hospital. Many scans and tests later, the doctor informed Kevin they found an abnormality in his brain, it’s extremely large, and they were not equipped to handle this level of emergency. They sent him via ambulance to Ascension Alexian Brothers in the wee hours of the morning on June 21st, where he would be transferred to and immediately seen by the Neurosurgeon. This is where Kevin was told he has a brain tumor, they believe it to be cancerous, it’s the size of an iceberg, its swelling his brain and they need to do emergency surgery to remove it. He was in surgery by 4:30pm later that day. Surgery was successful and they were able to remove the entire tumor on the surface but none of the tumor below the surface. He would need to undergo Radiation, and chemo therapy to help keep the tumor from growing. It was 14 long days before we found out Kevin was diagnosed with Grade 4 Astrocytoma.
Kevin has been so strong through this diagnosis and journey. He took a break from work shortly after his brain surgery to recover and resumed work all the while going through radiation and chemo therapy. However, the medical bills started to pile late November of 2023 and have never stopped. Kevin is in the fight of this life for the rest of his life and the medical bills will be with him all the while. We are fundraising to help Kevin with the mounds of medical bills he is under and will continue to be under in perpetuity.
With your generous donations, Kevin will be able to use the money to help pay for his medical bills so we can use his actual paycheck for regular living instead of sacrificing on what he will give up or delay payment to make sure he is paying his medical bills.
We ask for your continued prayers that God will offer up a miracle to him and help protect Kevin so he can be with us here as a son, brother, uncle, cousin, boyfriend and friend to everyone he touches. Let’s let Kevin know that we have his back, so he can focus on what’s important right now, his fight for his life.
