Please help Jessica get the new lift van she needs

  • Hello my name is Leslie and this is my daughter. She is now 36, but was born 12 weeks early weighing only 3lbs 7oz and quickly dropped to 3lbs. She spent more than 5 weeks in the NICU before being able to come home, even then however, she was still hooked up to wires and machines for a bit. Months later she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, spastic quadriplegic. Even with early intervention she was unable too walk until having surgery on her legs at the Shriner's Hospital in Lexington KY at the age of 4. Once healed she turned into a crazy girl running in her walker up and down hallways at her school. In 2nd grade her life began to change, she became the target of bullying that just got progressively worse the older she got. Even leading to two separate death threats from two different classmates in middle school.. At 13 we chose to have her have another surgery hoping it would make walking easier for her and everything went wrong. Everything became a struggle for her, but she kept at what she could, even if it was limited. However now she is having to learn how to walk all over again. She was walking 5 years ago until a freak accident in which she broke her femur took that away from her and has been bedridden since. She started going to Mary Free Bed for physical and occupational therapy in July 2023 and has been making great progress. The harness she is wearing is called a (Zero G). It lifts her up and then they slowly lower it as she is able to put more weight on her own legs. It’s important that she keeps up with this therapy. She is very depressed because we have to keep canceling her appointments because of our lift van. It keeps needing major repairs. It’s a 1998 Chevy express. Shortly after we got the van we had to take it to have the lift worked on; at this appointment we were made aware that the under carriage was rusted out to the extent that they wouldn't be able to fix anything major with lift or replace it due to the deterioration of the undercarriage of the van. and now parts of her lift are breaking, but we still have to use it because it’s the only mode of transportation we have for her. We do everything we can to keep it running, one of my sons is really great about being involved when something needs to be fixed. But it has gotten to the point where we cannot limp belong anymore. just want my daughter to be in a safe van, on a safe lift, and not have to worry about breaking down every single day. My girl truly deserves this and this is the only way I could think to get this for her. We really are in need of a new van so my beautiful daughter can continue to improve and hopefully get out of the hospital bed. Please believe EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS, and it’s the only way we will reach our goal! If you find it in your heart and have the ability to donate, we will be forever grateful. And if you can't, YOU CAN STILL HELP by just sharing it! Simple, Easy and it can change her life forever if it reaches the right person, which we'll be incredibly thankful for! Thank you for taking the time to read some of our story...
