To help get Portable Concentrator

Donation protected

As most of you know, I permanently quit smoking over 10 years ago after I was diagnosed with COPD and Emphseyma in March 2006. My health improved immediately, but my lungs were so scarred from smoking that in 2012, I was told I would have to use oxygen everyday: including when I sleep and when I shower.

My breathing is constantly improving - but some days, some months, are harder for me physically. My body works more than twice as hard in order to be able to breathe, which means that doing everyday things inside and particularly outside can be a challenge for me. Basic things like moving around the house to do chores is a struggle for me. By getting a new concentrator, I will be able to face this next challenge on regaining as much self sufficiency as I can at this stage in my life.

I started with oxygen tanks to take with me when I go out, but decided on a portable oxygen concentrator as it was more convenient for me.  It works in pulses: meaning it gives me oxygen whenever I breathe.  Unfortunately, now I find that I need something more potent in order to be active outside for long periods of time - especially if I am walking a lot and standing. I need a constantly flowing concentrator to provide me with oxygen and not just at the level I am able to breathe, or else I will I will be out of breath.  If I cannot breathe adequately enough on my own, my current concentrator will also not be able to provide me with enough oxygen. This is now stalling my progression.

Unfortunately, my insurance company is giving me a hard time exchanging the one I have to a constantly flowing portable concentrator.  When and If I am able to buy one, I can give them back their concentrator and stop paying rental fees.

The portable concentrator that I need costs about $2500 to $3000: this is including cart to travel with, bag to put the concentrator's parts in, and an extra battery because flowing batteries use up more energy along with adapters and warranty.  This new concentrator will allow me to travel comfortably and be able to do more things: take public transportation, make personal visits to friends and family, sell my family's new skincare line that we have launched this year, StillBloomCare, in person among other things!

Please consider donating if you are able to. Any amount is appreciated and no contribution is too little. I will also send the link to my StillBloomCare Esty where our products will be for sale if you are able to support me  in this way.

There is no cure for COPD, but it can be slowed down by oxygen and excercising! Once I get this new concentrator I will be able to become more active and thus achieve even more self sufficiency and better quality of life.

Peace and Love to all!
