To help fund Theodore’s memorial.
Donation protected
This fund raiser is for the Cust family. Sadly, this beautiful family, full of love, has had to live through something no parent should have to.
Theodore Andrew Cust, born and died on 29/01/2023.
No family should have to be put in a situation where they are expected to organise and fund their own child’s funeral while they are trying to come to terms with and mourn through the suffering of stress and heartache.
It is a tremendous tragedy and they have been so strong throughout for each other and they young boy Bailey.
It came to my attention of the financial and mental strain this life changing situation has placed on this family. And I hope people can show their love and support for them to help overcome the costs they never had time or expectations to prepare for, so they can properly grieve, and also not be reminded of the pain each month due to the ongoing payments.
A bank account will be set up in their name, so the donations can be sent to them directly.
From the Cust family:
Today, Chris and I did the one thing a parent should never have to do and lay their own child to rest. Theodore Andrew Cust was born sleeping, on the 29th January 2023 at a teeny tiny 454g, 21w + 1d (5 months) gestation. Not many people knew we were pregnant and even fewer knew about the health issues we were trying to navigate our way through which we found out about on the 6th Dec 2022, 13w + 3d. Today, 27th March 2023. We had Theodore's service. It was so perfect and we can't have imagined it going any better. The beautiful words that were read and letters placed in with his ashes, tears that were shed and smiles were around. Theodore's ashes were integrated into a beautiful Red Flowering Gum (Corymbia ficifolia 'Wildfire') tree. The tree is described as being "Ambitious, strong and a desire to protect -The flowering gum is most recognisable for their intense red flowers that bloom throughout summer." We hope that Theo will protect our family and be Baileys keeper for life, his Guardian Angel looking over him and always being by his side. We can only imagine the mischief Bailey and Theodore would have gotten up to if they had the chance and we are absolutely heart broken that our boy couldn't be here, earthside with us. Having integrated Theo into the tree is a sign of new life and helping something else grow. We believe and tell Bailey that as he grows up taller, bigger and stronger so will Theos tree and they can grow up together, side by side. The tree we picked is set up so that Chris, I and any children we have can also be integrated into the same tree. One day we will be with our little boy again, until the end of time. The day we found out about Theodore's health issues, our world shattered and from that date it has been the hardest, most emotional time of our lives and we never wish this on anyone. We treasure the very little time we had with Theodore, lots of cuddles and tears were had. Pictures were taken and memories will be kept forever. We make this post so that everyone will know about Theodore and even though he can't be here with us in person, he will always be part of our family and with us through life. Life and new lives at that, are so precious and we're blessed that Theodore chose us to be his parents. We can't thank our village of people enough. The team at The Royal Womens Hospital, our GP, our Funeral Agent, Bereavement Organisations that we've used & the close family and friends that knew and have supported us through all of this. They've felt our pain and cried with us. Given their unconditional love and support. Given us space but been there for us, all at the same time. Simply showing up for us, knowing that they're there. Most of all, helping us honour our beautiful little boy and all of him. His tiny hands, closed eyes, nose like Bailey's and the same indent in his chin as Chris. There's a hole in our hearts that will never be filled but is there, as a reminder of our boy, every single day. Rest in peace our Guardian Angel, Theodore Andrew Cust. Mummy and Daddy love you so so much.
