Dear friends,

I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart, as I share the story of Nico, a 9 month old good boy who was listed for free on a selling site. The pictures showed him terrified, emancipated, with double cherry eye and bow legged from lack of sufficient nutrition and vitamins. The owner claimed he couldn't care for him anymore, but failed to mention his numerous health problems.

I couldn't bear to leave Nico in such a heartbreaking situation, so I drove two and a half hours to collect him. When I arrived, Nico belly crawled out of the kitchen, clearly terrified. Despite my pleas, the owner picked him up by his two legs and handed him over to me. My heart broke for this sweet boy, who had never experienced love or kindness.

Since bringing Nico home, I have seen his gentle nature shine through. He is so good with my three children and two dogs, despite never having been socialised. However, it is clear that he has not been taken care of properly - he is not house trained, he has never been on a walk, and his stomach was so starved that he couldn’t even handle food. He had been vomiting and experiencing diarrhea, throwing up his own poo, and it breaks my heart to see him suffer.

I have set up a GoFundMe to raise funds for Nico's vet fees, as well as costs to help me raise him, he has behavioural issues, anxiety, PTSD, he is terrified of noise, of men, he bolts if he’s scared and so he needs classes, he needs neutering, he’s also eaten my kitchen floor, my dining room floor as well as chewed up my dining table and chairs, he has severe separation anxiety, but I am determined to give him the love and care he deserves.
