Help for Peter Guzy and family

Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, my wonderful dad, Peter Guzy, was diagnosed last April with a rare and very aggressive Glioblastoma brain cancer. From the beginning, the prognosis was not good, but he has fought valiantly, undergoing two brain surgeries, multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, several clinical trials, and additional tumor-targeted treatments – loved and supported by us every step of the way on the brutal journey of fighting this painfully cruel and relentless cancer.

My selfless and devoted mom, Diane, has been working full time as dad’s compassionate caregiver, while acting as the expert facilitator of all things -- without any real assistance. I am a senior in high school, unable to be home as much as I’d like over the next several weeks, while I’m finishing my work to graduate in June. My sister Juliana lives and works in Toronto and visits as often as she can. We are all struggling with the heartbreaking realities, as we watch Dad struggle and loose his independence.

It has been hard for us to ask for help, but we’re asking now. We need help to cover the cost of Dad’s impending hospice care, among many other things. In case you don’t know, my dad is a passionate and brilliant architect who has loved designing many phenomenal places for his friends and clients (some of which you may view at GuzyArchitects.com). This piece, which was written by a good friend, in honor of my dad’s recent 66th birthday, https://www.instagram.com/p/CacWFPIFVmU/?utm_medium=copy_link, highlights some of his amazing work. My dad loves dinners with friends and family, listening to jazz music, reading, playing his piano, creating his projects, and living his very best life with family and dear friends. We love him so – and desperately want to enjoy more time with him.

I’m starting this GoFundMe campaign, hoping that the funds raised might alleviate some of the financial burden my mom is facing and to enable us to make the best possible decisions about my dad’s final care. Thank you very much for any support you might offer -- and for all of your positive thoughts for my dad and in support of our family. Your kindness and consideration means so much. We are forever grateful to all of you who have been such positive forces in our lives, especially now as we confront this difficult time. Thank you and feel free to share this campaign amongst friends. ⁃ Alden Guzy
