To help cover surgery cost for Milo a Russian Toy Terrier

Donation protected
As a tiny pup Milo, a red long haired Russian Toy Terrier, was not too interested in food. We were told “it’s his personality” and can get prescribed medication to increase his appetite. I flagged his awful doggie breath and we were offered medication as an option to treat it. His pre-op tests for neutering showed a potential problem with his liver. At the time a family member got a cancer diagnosis and focus shifted for a bit. The vet was not worried and said it happens with pups and we will test him again later on.

Fast forward a year later (with our beloved family member all better) Milo would not eat, unless you tricked him into eating with creative games. Then the many tests commenced…

Milo, at a year and a half, was finally diagnosed with a Liver Shunt. It’s when the blood bypasses the liver and does not get “cleaned”. This explained his symptoms.. and without treatment toxins will build up in the brain leading to seizures, erratic and aggressive behaviour, and potentially other issues. Managing with medication would weaken his liver, surgery is the best option.

Milo is Zimo’s (8year old boy) puppy, named after his favourite actor Milo Manhiem (from Disney’s Zombies). Milo is smart, full of energy and always a head turner in the big city (Toronto). People even follow him around taking photos with him like a celebrity!

The fundraising was Zimo’s idea, children are soo pure at heart and without hesitation ask for help and give unconditional love. ♥️

His greatest achievement to date has been helping heal that family member that had cancer. He lifts the spirit and mood of everyone he encounters and always brings a smile with this big fluffy ears and sweeping tail.

Being in Toronto the surgery is $$$ and time is of the essence (according to doctors). Milo has started medication to manage the symptoms. It has been tricky since he is not food motivated, however hiding it in ice cream seems to work!

Zimo’s message is “Milo needs to continue making everyone smile” .

Any help, will go directly to the hospital fees. Surgery is estimated at $12k.. but we expect after care will balloon afterwards. Because of his size they have to monitor him, in hospital about a week, for seizures.

Anything you can contribute will be appreciated and we hope that this brings awareness to this wonderful breed of smart beautiful dogs.
