To help Kofi’s mum get back on her feet again

Hello all, I’m organising this fundraiser on behalf of Jennifer, Kofi’s mum who is currently struggling with her health and wellbeing. Her kind 15 year old son has agreed to have me reach out to the public to help his mum. We would be very grateful for any help and support.

Hello, my name is Kofi. I’m 15, and my mom is in a health emergency. I need your help to get her back on her feet.

On April 28th, I woke up at midnight to her gasping for air.” whispering my name “Kofi… hospital… now.”

I rushed her there in a taxi, using the last of our savings. By morning, the little money we had was gone.

This is our life now.

My mom is only 35, but her body is failing. She has hyperthyroidism the same disease her mother had at old age.

Every day, she battles chest pain, heart palpitations, and nights where she can’t breathe. She has lost hearing in one ear,and has lost so much weight too.She wants to work, to fight, but she’s too weak.

When my mom was 20, she gave birth to me and after 5 years she was initiated into an arranged marriage with a man who promised her a better life.

He was a UK barrister of British Ghanaian descent and has a powerful family in Ghana. They married, and we moved to the UK, and he vowed to adopt me. But it was a lie.

He used her. She had two more children, and he moved us all to the UAE Dubai.Then a year and half later he abandoned us. My half-brothers stayed in school. I became a unintended drop out by the cause of my fees not being paid for. I now live with my mother where my half-brothers are now with the man who married her.

As time went by, my mother’s health began to decline and I had to step in to care for my mom. We had no money, no home, we only survived with help from friends and a few family members who saw firsthand what we were enduring in Dubai.

We fled back to Ghana, hoping for a fresh start. But her health collapsed. She’s now living with an old friend, too ill to work.

The man who ruined her life still has not processed a proper divorce and any lawyer in the country my mom spoke to didn't want to get involved when they found out,who they had to deal with.

His powerful family controls everything and has trapped her in a marriage that left us with nothing.

We need any form of support, be it financial or in kind for

1. Emergency Surgery & Medications as her thyroid condition may worsen without any care.

2. Basic Survival for food, shelter, and a safe place to heal without burdening others.

3. A chance for her to recover so she can work again and rebuild our lives.

4. A chance for me to return to

School and better my life.

If you can help us in any way, we would be grateful. Even by sharing this story so someone, somewhere, might see it.

We need help even if it is a prayer for her. We believe in miracles.

We are not asking for a specific number. All we need is resources for her medication and to support her recovery. Whether for a day’s food or medicine.

I want my mom to recover and to see her smile again. To hear her laugh without pains. To let her rest instead of fighting for every breath.
