Hi, my name is Paul and I am raising funds to help support Matteo, as he seeks to return to the UK. Matteo moved to the UK with his mum, sister and brother 40 years ago. He did his schooling in the UK and has always worked here, paying his taxes and NI contributions. He is not only a well loved member of the Settle community but also a very hard working small business owner, who has spent decades building a life and career in the UK. Sadly he is now facing an unexpected and distressing legal situation. He is unable to return home because of bureaucratic red tape, stemming from post Brexit immigration changes. Matteo is now facing significant legal fees and living costs whilst stranded abroad, and is having to employ an immigration solicitor. At the same time Matteo’s Italian restaurant in Settle market square, remains closed, and he still has his restaurant and home rents to pay and all other overheads. Jan and I have personally known Matteo for almost 20 years, and I have guided him, walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge several times, as he selflessly raises money for charitable causes.
