My scaredy cat Freddy passed away last night. His last memories will be playing with his brother Jason and being surrounded by love.

Freddy’s life has always been prone to illness. Last year he became our crooked kitty due to an ear infection that led to his head tilt. Earlier this year Freddy had a urinary obstruction, and after an emergency hospital trip we learned that he had heart disease and would not be able to live a long life. The bill was $7000 and luckily 80% was covered by insurance.

Last week we moved to a new apartment and the stress of the move put Freddy’s heart into failure. Another emergency hospital visit led to an additional $5000 bill, and unfortunately his insurance coverage had run out from the previous visit; but we were willing to do whatever it took to treat Freddy and give him the life he deserved. Here we are now, 5 days after that visit. He was playing with Jason and exploring the new apartment, when his heart finally gave out. He will be cremated and cherished and loved, and we’re so unbelievably grateful he’s no longer suffering. My pride has kept me from reaching out, but the past month of changes, challenges, and stress has put me into financial distress. Any amount of help will allow me to cover Freddy’s pending bills and cremation, as well as continue supporting Freddy’s brother, Jason. Thank you for reading this.
