To finance my studies at the conservatory

Hello, my name is Julian Escobar. I am a 21 years old drummer currently at 3rd year of bachelor at the conservatory of the Hague. I come from Colombia. I study drums since I was 5 years old and I aim to become a professional musician.

That is why three years ago I arrived to the Netherlands to pursue my bachelor and develop my career in an enviroment where jazz and other music take place at a higher level and with more existing opportunities. My parents and I have done so far a finantial effort to make this sustainable in the last years. I am working as a drum teacher to help covering some expenses.

However, this year has being more complicated than the previous ones for my parents. In general, the gdp ler capita is lower in colombia than in european countries and the salary is in colombian pesos which is a less strong currency compare to euros, so that makes it harder for my parents to help me. Also, the tuition fee for international students is 4 times higher than for europeans.

For these reasons I am looking for help to cover half of the tuition fee to help me finishing my third year of bachelor and not give up my professional and artistic aspirations.

Hallo! Ik ben Julian Escobar en ik kom uit Colombia. Ik ben een drummer en ik zit momenteel in mijn derde studiejaar jaar bij het conservatorium in Den Haag.

Ik drum al sinds ik vijf jaar ben en mijn grote doel is om professioneel drummer te worden.

Dit is waarom ik drie jaar geleden naar nederland ben verhuisd: om aan het conservatorium te studeren en mijn doel na te streven in een omgeving waar jazz en muziek plaatsvinden op een hoger niveau en waar er meer mogelijkheden en kansen zijn voor muzikanten. Mijn ouders en ik hebben tot nu toe de eerste twee jaar van mijn opleiding kunnen betalen. Ik werk ook als drumleraar om aan deze betalingen bij te dragen.

Dit jaar is helaas wat ingewikkelder dan de vorigen voor mijn ouders. In het algemeen, het bnp per persoon is lager in Colombia dan in Europese landen en het salaris is in Combiaanse pesos en dit is een minder sterke valuta dan de euro.

Dit maakt het veel moeilijker voor mijn ouders om mij te helpen. Daarbij zijn de studiekosten voor buitenlandse studenten die niet uit de Europese Unie komen vier maal zo hoog dan voor studenten die wel binnen Europa wonen

Voor deze redenen zoek ik naar hulp om de studie kosten van mijn derde jaar te kunnen betalen en zo niet mijn ambitie en artistieke dromen op te hoeven geven.

Buenas, mi nombre es Julián Escobar. Tengo 21 años, Soy batería de jazz y actualmente estoy cursando el tercer año del grado superior de Jazz en el Royal conservatory de La Haya. Nací en Colombia, Estudio batería desde los 5 años y mi objetivo es convertirme en músico profesional.

Es por eso que hace tres años llegué a los Países Bajos con el objetivo de recibir mi licenciatura y desarrollar mi carrera artística en un país donde el jazz y otras músicas se desarrollan a un nivel superior y con más oportunidades existentes. Mis padres y yo hemos hecho hasta ahora un esfuerzo financiero para que esto sea sostenible durante los últimos años. También estoy trabajando como profesor de batería para ayudar a cubrir una parte de los gastos.

Sin embargo, este año ha sido más complicado que los anteriores para mis padres. En general, el PIB per cápita es más bajo en Colombia que en los países europeos y el salario está en pesos colombianos, que es una moneda menos fuerte en comparación con el euro, por lo que a mis padres les resulta muy difícil ayudarme. Además, el coste de la matrícula para los estudiantes internacionales es 4 veces mayor que para los estudiantes europeos.

Por estos motivos busco ayuda para cubrir la mitad de la matrícula, para así terminar mi tercer año de licenciatura y no renunciar a mis aspiraciones profesionales y artísticas.
