Raising funds for medical and household expenses

We are reaching out to our community to support Jackie Baldwin, who has been diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), a rare and life-altering heart condition that has led to heart failure.

As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly difficult time for Jackie and her family. In addition to the physical and emotional toll, Mitchell, her partner, has had to put his work on hold in order to care for Jackie while also looking after their newborn. This has placed immense strain on their finances, as they now need assistance to cover both medical and household expenses.

The funds raised through this campaign will directly support their medical treatments, ongoing care, and the everyday costs of running a household while Mitchell is unable to work. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help relieve some of the stress they are currently facing and allow them to focus on Jackie’s health and their family’s well-being.

We’ve been truly overwhelmed by the love and support from all those who have reached out, including the response to our barefoot bowls fundraiser. For those unable to attend, we’ve created this GoFundMe to help support our family during this difficult time.

In January, Jackie & Mitchell were blessed to welcome their baby boy, Brooks, into the world through surrogacy. However, Jackie’s journey to motherhood has been far from easy.

In February 2025, while undergoing an egg retrieval, Jackie suffered from Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS). Coupled with her underlying condition of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, this resulted in a week-long hospital stay and a significant decline in her physical health.

Just three weeks after Brooks was born, Jackie fell ill again and was hospitalized for over a week, battling pneumonia. Since then, her health has continued to deteriorate. The physical demands of motherhood, coupled with little time to rest and recover, led to heart failure. This has been a huge shock to us, and we are now adjusting to the many changes this brings to our family.

Jackie has been in hospital at St Vincent’s in Sydney, where she is under the care of an incredible medical team doing everything they can to help her recover and bring her back home. There is hope on the horizon, as Jackie is hoping to be accepted into a clinical trial that could potentially save her heart. Once she is discharged, her daily life will undergo permanent changes as she adapts to her new reality.

The combination of Jackie’s hospitalizations and the birth of Brooks within such a short span has left us facing significant financial stress. With a newborn, ongoing medical treatments, medication costs, and frequent visits to healthcare providers, we find ourselves in a difficult position.

We are deeply grateful for all the support and love we’ve received during this time. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a world of difference to our family as we navigate this challenging period.
