I'm raising money in aid of Endometriosis Australia, a charity that endeavors to:
- Increase recognition of endometriosis
- Provides endometriosis education programs
- Provides funding for endometriosis research
FACTS ABOUT ENDOMETRIOSIS
- An inflammatory condition where cells similar to the lining of the uterus (endometrium) grow in other locations of the body
- A whole body disease (not just found in the pelvis/bladder/bowl)
- Affects 1 in 10 women
- Average diagnosis time is 7 years
- 1 in 3 women challenged by fertility issues due to the disease
- NO CURE
- A range of side affects such as chronic pain, fatigue, brain fog, fertility issues, severe bloating and much more..
- Highly under researched and underfunded
I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis in January 2024 and had laparoscopic surgery in May 2024. A really successful surgery which has helped my quality of life a lot (I was one of the lucky ones) I had lived with on and off chronic pain for over 10 years, with endless investigation as to what was causing it with no outcome. So to finally be diagnosed and have the surgery was a relief, however the journey isn't over yet. I still suffer on the odd day, with no cure for this disease it is likely more surgery will be needed in the future. I'd love to help those who suffer a lot worse than I have and don't have the ability to do the simple things in life that I'm still lucky to be able to do :)
I'm running Gold Coast Marathon on Sunday 6th July to do my bit to raise money for research, and hopefully help people who are in a similar position to me, this disease affects approx. 190 MILLION women worldwide!
Every donation would mean the world.
Thank you
Jade x
