In need of a new wheelchair
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Julia and I'm 24. Two years ago, I was hospitalized after discovering that I had blood clots in both legs and a severe infection in my feet. I was sent home from the hospital and told that the pain in my feet would start to improve, but it never did. The pain continued to get worse, and I spent months going to various doctors/specialists and having endless tests run.
In April 2021, I was diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). CRPS generally happens after some type of injury or surgery (in my case, it was the blood clots and infection), and the main symptom is pain that is out of proportion to the initial injury. It can also cause symptoms like swelling, skin discoloration, change in skin temperature, and burning pain.
CRPS is a lifelong condition; there is no cure. None of the treatments I've tried so far have provided any significant relief. I got a spinal cord stimulator implant about 6 months ago, but I have not gotten any relief from it. I have pain in my feet 24/7, and walking is very challenging. I use a wheelchair most of the time, but my wheelchair broke recently. I'm struggling to get around and am in desperate need of a new chair. My insurance won't approve it because they said I'm too young to need one. To those who are willing to consider donating, thank you so much I really appreciate it!
