This is Finn. She is a 22 week old American Pit Bull. My sister and her husband adopted Finn from the local Humane Society. When they brought her home they noticed that she was leaking urine. They found this odd and immediately took her to be seen by their vet. They were not told about her incontinence at the shelter. They were told she had some scar tissue in her abdomen due to a possible infection as a puppy, but that was all.
Their vet asked all the right questions and determined it was probably an Ectopic Ureter, but could also be due to having vaginitis. After 2 weeks of antibiotics Finn was still leaking. This started the long process of figuring out if Finn’s vet’s hunch was correct. Finn has been through many tests now: blood tests, a urinalysis, a internal animal specialist visit for an ultrasound. this ultrasound confirmed an Extramural Ectopic Ureter.
Finn needs surgery... her type of ectopic ureter is not fixable the easy way. So, next up is surgery that will have a CT scan, a cystoscopy, and the scary part: them cutting open her abdomen. Abdominal surgery will be complicated for Finn because of the scar tissue already there. Finn is set to have surgery in August.
My sister and her husband could have given Finn back after knowing she was going to have her challenges, but they didn’t. They flipped their world around, have provided Finn the care she needs to be happy and healthy, and even got her doggy diapers so she could sit on the furniture like her furry big brother Jax.
As you can imagine, Finn’s surgery is not going to be cheap. My sister and her husband have put so much into time and money into Finn and her health that I want to give them the gift of some financial help to ease their stress of coming up with all the extra money to pay for her surgery.
I want Finn to be able to get all she needs, and for my sister and brother-in-law to rest easy knowing their girl will be able to get exactly what she needs. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting Finn on her journey.
