Help Moonshine get healthy again

Hi everyone, my name is Marisa and I’m fundraising for my best friend Maddie’s horse Moonshine. Moonshine is a 4 year old quarter horse that Maddie loves dearly. Maddie has gone through many many months of chemotherapy treatments not too long ago. During that battle she got Moonshine, who was her saving grace and motivation to keep battling and overcome cancer. About 4 months ago moonshine coliced which is an urgent medical issue horses endure. Maddie and I immediately brought her into New England Equine Practice where she had emergency colic surgery that saved her life. Maddie has been doing a fantastic job at rehabbing moonshine and even starting to ride her again since the surgery. Until moonshine coliced again last week and needed another emergency surgery to save her life. Moonshine is still in the hospital with a life saving vet bill. Unfortunately, she is not recovering as easily this time as this surgery is very difficult on horses. This time we were not able to pinpoint why exactly this happened. This time and last it was an issue with her colon, although that is not the cause of her colic. The surgeon says her best shot at survival now is to remove her colon in 2 months to stop it from flipping if this were to happen again. This would remove the high chances of future surgery if she were to colic again. Unfortunately insurance only covers so much, and this poor horse needs the chance of proper care so she may heal and get back to being her goofy, cookie loving self.
