Inspired by Panya's story - Support Injured Turtles at OTCC
Panya was an injured turtle we found earlier this year, during the time of the year, when females were looking for a spot to lay their eggs. Despite being rescued and transported to the OTCC, Panya succumbed to her injuries a day later. The centre had saved her eggs, but they were unfortunately determined to not be viable after the incubation period. As inspired by Panya's story, we encourage you to support the OTCC to help other injured turtles at the centre. To learn more about Panya and her story, visit our exploration blog!
More information about the Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre (OTCC):
The Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre (home of the Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre) is a non-profit, registered charity that operates a hospital for injured wild turtles. Once healed, these turtles are released back into their natural habitat. The OTCC also hatches 4,000 or more eggs per year and releases the hatchlings to their mother's home wetlands. They provide an education/outreach program geared to all ages, to promote healthy turtle populations and stewardship.
