Lisa’s Fund
As many know, our beloved mother has Leiomyosarcoma. This type of cancer is a rare kind that affects smooth muscle tissue. Lisa has battled and fought this tough cancer for a few years now. Many surgeries, chemo and radiation. Unfortunately, it’s something we will never see go away.
Our mom has been a huge fighter in this! Her attitude and perseverance is inspiring. Not once has she given up or quit!
With hope we were in the clear the mass has came back, this time in her lung and chest area. Treatment is a 24 hour chemo infusion followed by radiation everyday for as many as 10 weeks in hopes of shrinking it. Driving back and forth from Nevada to Iowa City everyday is becoming quite a challenge with this unpredictable Iowa weather. Due to the weather a few radiation treatments have been missed and we all had a very scary couple days. Doctors now want Lisa to stay in Iowa City everyday. As we know this is best for her it’s not so kind on finances. Staying in a hotel, plus food and gas adds up quickly (especially for 6+ weeks) Coming home on weekends during the winter is risky due to weather.
In hopes to help ease the financial burden I am creating this to help our mother out for the last 6-8 weeks of her treatment! We appreciate everyone who has been helping us out this far! Our mom is so brave and so strong, we just feel this is the least we can do!
