Welcome to Kaiden's page. Kaiden is a tough 9 year old who has had a forever changing brain tumor called posterior fossa ependymoma (anaplastic, grade 3)
Everything started March 24 with vomiting every other day, sore belly then got to vomiting randomly everyday. He didn't want to eat so they went to the family doctor where they did blood work and it came back as a type of virus. They were told the virus will take awhile to go away if he goes down hill over the weekend take him to emergency. He lost 20lbs from march 24-may 4. His mother felt it was his all time worst and she took him into Victoria hospital. ( thankful she listen to her intuition)
The doctors took it seriously and admitted him that day and started running test. While in Victoria may 4 they ran many tests mri, camera down the throat with blood tests and ultra sound. May 7 ct scan found the tumor then three hours later they were flown to childrens hospital. On may 8 he had emergency external ventricular drain placement Because he had brief periods of loss of consciousness and protracted vomiting. May 10th he had the tumor removed due to Kaiden not being able to touch his nose or wiggle his toes. .It was a 12 hour surgery, with following MRI to make sure they got everything ( which they did, such an amazing team of doctors.) He then had LP on May 24 that showed the cancer didn't spread to his spine. ( such great news) If you are familiar with this type of cancer you know that there is 50% chance of it coming back which doctors have chosen to do radiation for 6 weeks.
Kaiden loves playing games with his big bro. He loves riding his scooter, hanging out with fam in Victoria. He also is a huge Pokémon fan, collects and enjoys having battles. Right now his mom is currently looking for a place to live for all 6 of her kids and herself as the home they are in now is being demolished so new homes can be put in. This is all so much for the young family.
Our goal here is 10,000 this is a huge help for Kaiden. He has 5 brothers and sisters on the island waiting for him to come home after treatment. Kaiden's dad had to take time off work to assist but now back to work so tasha's parents are having to look after the kids for the 6 weeks of treatment we can use all the help they can get. Any help is so greatly appreciated, even good vibes, well wishes and prayers for the future of this amazing young little boy.
