On Sunday, June 23rd Geneva and her daughter, Angie, left for their first mother daughter vacation in a very long time. Geneva started not feeling well the next day with fever and was short of breath. She was diagnosed with flu A and B and Pneumonia. When they were able to get to the ER in Cozumel, Mexico the next day, she was placed in ICU and they started running many tests. First, they thought it was meningitis, then a tick borne illness. She was placed in quarantine and finally sedated on Wednesday so that her brain could rest from the infection. Thursday, she was given a 50/50 chance of survival and was in septic shock. Friday morning she had a heart attack and it wasn’t looking good. This is when Billy was able to get there. Saturday morning her vitals and heart had improved and was critical still, but stable, so they stopped sedating her to let her wake up. She remained stable, but still not awake by Tuesday and they were able to secure an air ambulance to bring her back to Arkansas. She is now at Mercy in Rogers, who is working with the Mayo Clinic, waiting on test results to come back. They are treating her for Ehrlichiosis. They have also found a tumor in her kidney that will need to be treated as well. She still hasn’t woken up, but the most recent MRIs have come back clear!! She has opened her eyes multiple times, for short periods. Many people have asked what they can do, please continue to pray for her, as she continues healing and tries to wake up.
