Officer Scot Fitzgerald Memorial

Donation protected
On March 4, 2016, Officer Scot Fitzgerald was killed in the line of duty en route to a medical call to help a small child.  Officer Fitzgerald's patrol car collided with an ambulance responding to the same call.  He was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to a Springfield, IL hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Scot was an EMT, Firefighter, and Police Officer with the South Jacksonville Police Department.  He leaves behind a wife who was his best friend and love of his life, as well as a 4-year-old son who adored his hero father and a 4-month-old baby daughter.
He was dedicated to his family, friends, and profession.  Scot knew no strangers and was always willing to help anyone in need.  This page is dedicated to his memory in hopes of easing the financial burden for his wife and children.  Your donations will help cover funeral expenses, college funds for his children, and living expenses for his young family.
Our hearts are broken over this sudden, tragic loss.  Officer Fitzgerald will be remembered in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.  He was taken from his loved ones and community far before his time.  Please consider donating in his memory, and in standing with all officers that dedicate their lives each and every day to keep us safe and help in times of trouble.
