Hi everyone, my name is Jasmine. I am a foster youth, graduating early from high school which is forcing me to think about my future. I would like to continue my education at a University level. I have dreams of becoming an Astrophysicist and breaking the stereotypes often associated with foster youth. Only 2.5% of foster youth graduate from a four year college. I want to be a part of that small percentage. The reality of attending college at a University level is expensive and I am quickly realizing that any grants I receive will only cover a portion of my tuition. As I do not currently have any college savings.
The first step is funding for PCC spring term. DHS will not pay for spring term at PCC, they have told me to use my financial aid to fund spring term. I have been advised to not use said aid package by all university advisers. I am reaching out to my community and beyond asking for your help.
Thank you!
