I will be brief here as my nephew Scott did not initially want me to ask for help. You see, this family has already endured unimaginable tragedies over the past 20 years, including the recent loss of Scott's sister in March, and he felt he did not want to "tell another sad story" or "ask for charity." But I explained that when your child needs help, nothing else matters! The fact is, THIS CHILD NEEDS OUR HELP!
Here are the essential facts:
- Little Harper is a beautiful little 5-year-old girl with a great big heart and a captivating smile (see her in this picture)!
- She is loved by all, especially her mom, dad and beautiful big sister Madison, age 8.
- She has an extremely rare bone marrow disease called Severe Aplastic Anemia (approx 1-2 kids per million get this each year)
- The only cure for this is a bone marrow transplant from the single person on the planet with the right match - her sister Madison.
- This procedure will mean a minimum of three months in-patient, in-hospital, requiring her mother to relocate within the required 30 minutes of Harper, leaving her dad at home to continue working, getting Madison to school each day and traveling to see Harper whenever possible.
- After the transplant, Madison will not be able to see her little sister due to her very high risk of infection during this time.
- Insurance has denied coverage of travel and accomodations, adding to an already enormous financial and emotional burden during this time.
I realize we all have our own financial commitments to manage, and not everyone can contribute to every need presented to them. However, this is a situation where you can have a genuine, very significant impact on a young child's life and her family's life.
If you can contribute financially, please do. It is understandable if you cannot. Please pray for Harper, her sister Madison, and their parents, Scott and Lindsey.
Thank you!
