My name is Mohammed Miqdad. I am a Palestinian citizen. I have a family of seven.

I am speaking to you with a broken heart and an urgent plea for help to get my family out of Gaza.

In November, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) bombed my home and my brothers' home in Rafah. Since then, we, along with our wives and a large group of children, have been forced to move several times.

For a while, my entire family was sheltering in an unsanitary UNRWA shelter, which has since been bombed. Now, the entire family is split up after our escape from Rafah, a decision they made to limit the number of casualties. They face death every moment of the day and have nowhere to go.

One of my sons is in a critical condition and has not received his treatment and surgery since the beginning of the war. My sons tell me they do not want to die. The family has little access to food and clean water. It is winter in Gaza, and the fact that they are all without warm blankets and proper clothing haunts my thoughts. We fled to Deir al-Balah. After nine months, the bombing intensified in this terrifying city on the seafront. We then fled to Khan Yunis. Now we live in a place where animals are unacceptable.

I hope you will help me and my family escape imminent death.

At first, we thought this was a short-term project—getting the family out and re-establishing somewhere. Those plans were shattered when Israel closed the Rafah crossing.

Since then, we have focused on the family's needs while we were trapped in Gaza. During that time, the family found many ways to help others, with very little themselves. They organized community meals.
