Helping my dad's cancer battle

As some of you may know, my Dad, John Gerolomo, has been very sick the past few months. On April 23rd he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer that has spread to his liver and his intestines. It is inoperable.
With everything going on in the world recently, this is the last thing our family thought we would have added to our plates. It has been devastating news. His doctor told us that even with the most aggressive chemo treatments, that he would only have about a 35-40% chance of making it a year.
We soon found that those aggressive chemo treatments had not helped and that the cancer had continued to spread.
Through this experience the last thing we thought we would be struggling with, is fighting the insurance company to get things covered for my dad’s care. My mother has been left paying out of pocket for medications, fighting to get new chemo treatments covered, and now has been told they will not cover a home health nurse to aide my mother in his care. My mother has left her job to become his full-time caregiver, and she can’t do this alone. My goal is to help pay for a nurse to go to their home and help her with care for my dad. Financial costs for his care are the last thing I want my mother to worry about.
I understand that everyone has been financially struggling the past few months, so anything given is greatly appreciated.
My Dad is my rock, and now it’s time for me to be his. He is my best friend and I hate to imagine life without him. He has given so much to us throughout our lives to make sure we had everything we needed growing up. Now it’s my time to make sure he and my mother have everything they need.
How will the funds be spent?
- Fund any ongoing medical treatment (chemotherapy, medications, quality of life, etc.)
- Provide in-home care/home health aide.
- Take care of inevitable funeral costs and related arrangements.
- Financially support my mother during a very uncertain period (food, bills, maintenance, etc.)
- Cover transport costs to and from doctors and hospitals.
- Provide my mother a level of financial security in the event a further emergency arises.
