I’m not sure how to say this and I’ve never done anything like this before, but here is the scenario.
I’ve known Sara Weaver since high school. Our lives took us in different directions but we have always been friends. Sarah has been admitted to the hospital many times this year for multiple different medical reasons. The last visit a few weeks ago, she was admitted and has been there ever since. Last Tuesday, September 29th, because of numerous complications, Sarah was moved to hospice.
Taylor Taulman, Sarah’s daughter, needs your help; and that’s why I am making this plea. Taylor is only 15 years old and already lost her father (Chris Maddox) a few years ago, and now she’s losing her mother. Taylor needs help with court costs to transfer parental guardianship, to get sibling blood tests and money to survive (bills, clothes, and everyday costs) as she tries to continue her life in the world. Neither Chris nor Sarah had life insurance. She is not alone though! Fortunately, since this happened, Taylor has been living with a wonderful family I have had the pleasure of knowing for the last 10 years. Samantha Millar and her three children; Cayla, Tristian, and Austin. Tristian and Austin just happen to be half-brother and half-sister to Taylor (the reason for the blood tests). Parental guardianship paperwork has already been signed by Sarah to transfer to Samantha, but the paperwork has to be filed with the courts, which is costly. Samantha is a great mom and has opened her heart and her home happily to Taylor. Of course, money won’t bring back Taylor’s mom and dad, but with a 14-year old daughter of my own, I would hope someone would reach out in this way for me, should the worst happen.

“I met Taylor when she was six years old after I came back from Arizona and remarried my ex-husband Chris Maddox. Chris and Sarah had gotten pregnant before I moved to Arizona and then they lost touch. A month after Sarah got pregnant with Chris, she met Brian Taulman. They got married and moved to Arizona and when Taylor was born, he was put on the birth certificate instead of Chris.
Sarah and I remained in contact, even after Chris and I separated. I considered Taylor my stepdaughter and wanted her to have a relationship with her half-siblings. Four years ago, Chris passed away, and we never got the chance to change the birth certificate information and get a blood test to prove he was the father.
Over the past few months that Sarah has been in and out of the hospital, I have been taking Taylor in so she has had somewhere to go, and she could be with her siblings while her mom was trying to get better. Over this past month, she has been at my house every day to do school work since I have internet access, so I’ve had the pleasure of seeing her even more, along with the stayovers due to Sarah's health declining and more frequent visits to the hospital. These last visits have not been easy, to say the least, as Sarah has been in the hospital for over 2 weeks, and now, she is in hospice. They are not expecting her to live much longer, which means this little girl Taylor will have lost both her mom and her real dad within 4 years. Because of the birth certificate situation, it puts me in a bind as I now have a few hurdles to jump over to keep Taylor with me in Colorado and not go to Arizona to the man who is listed as her father. That means a lot of court costs, blood tests with the siblings, and adding another child full time into my home.
Because of COVID, my income has been affected and money is tight, but I want to keep Taylor full-time and provide for her and give her the love and care she needs and deserves. Before Sarah got sick, Taylor was in competitive cheer (which she loves) but it is a big expense. I would love to get that going for her again. She is a bright, loving, and sweet girl who is in AP classes at school, has good grades, and even picked up a job at a Food Truck to help pay the rent before her mom was hospitalized and then moved to hospice.
I normally don't ask for help, but with court costs and blood testing to get the birth certificate changed, along with added expenses, I am reaching out for help to get us where we need to be to move forward, along with any funeral expenses we will have when Sarah passes.”
