TJ( Edward Walker Jr.) Expenses

Hello,
Caring hearts all over please lend an ear.  On October 24, 2014 my nephew Edward "TJ" Walker, Jr.  was hospitalize at Beaumont Hospital due to having  seizures.  He continue to have seizures for over 3 month after a month at Beaumont and the seizure continuing to occur every 10 minutes even after being placed in a induced coma and on a respiratory to reduce brain activity.  His parents had to make a very important decision and transport him via helicopter to University of Michigan.

The last four months has been unreal. A young healthy 10 year boy in a coma for 3 months.  His parents are divorce but they have worked together as a team to support TJ during this ordeal.  His mom and dad have had the hardest 4 months of their lives but they are devoted to the healing of their son.

TJ's  dad stays 3 nights a week assisting with the 13 year old daughter and taking care of his 4 year old and 2 year old son. His dad is working a full time job at night for financial support and to keep his health insurance to take care the medical bills.

TJ's mom has not been able to work steadily due to staying 2 nights a week but her job is very understanding.  She has alot to deal with along with also caring  for the 13 year daughter and a 2 year old son.

To add assistance my sister and myself also stay 1 night a week to give them a night off.

The hardest issue for both of them is transportation, medical bills and the changes to their home and life that will have to take place to keep TJ on track to recovery.
His dad is currently using his father car to drive from Harper Woods to Ann Arbor 3 nights to stay with his son and his mom car caught on fire recently after arriving home from being with her son and is having a difficult time with transportation and still never misses a day with her son by sharing a car with her fiance.

After 2 1/2 month of pray and University of Michigan trying experimental drugs and using a Kegenic Diet on TJ they have been able to stop the seizure from occur every 10 minutes to occuring once a week.  The coma has been reduced but now he can not talk, walk, situp or breath on his own. He is 1 in a 10 years body.  He has had several small operation to add a trachea and a feeding tub. The doctors stated they are monitory him closely for any brain issues and he will need 2 months of rehab. Once they decide to bring him home they will need a live in nurse due to the trachea and breathing machine and to modify the home until he improves. He will need a wheelchair and a ramp added.  He is currently on over 10 medication and they are trying to reduce them to help reduce cost if he goes home.

We are greatful that he is improving daily and the journey ahead is to have him to be the active young man he used to be, someone who enjoyed school and loved playing basketball.
