Support Danielle's Fight Against Breast Cancer

This GoFundMe is being created for my sweet friend, Danielle, as she continues to incur the financial burden of her current journey in life...

Back in February, Danielle went in for a doctor’s appt to get some genetic testing done since her mom had recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Endometrial cancer. During that appointment, her doctor suggested going for a mammogram since she had turned 40 three months prior. After performing a manual exam, and not feeling any lumps, it was still decided to schedule the mammogram- just to be sure.

Being a teacher, Danielle waited to schedule her test until Spring Break. The tech performing the exam said it was common to get a call back with first time exams. Danielle got called back and had her repeat mammogram and ultrasound 2 weeks later. It was at that appointment she was told she needed a biopsy to see if the mass found was cancerous or benign. The biopsy was performed a week later.

On April 4th, Danielle received the life-changing news from her doctor. She has Triple Negative invasive ductal carcinoma, stage 1B. After multiple consultations with breast surgeons and oncologists, Danielle began treatment on May 21st. Because her cancer is the most aggressive type of breast cancer, and her young age- the most aggressive treatment was chosen. She is currently undergoing 16 rounds of chemotherapy. Once completed, she will have a radical mastectomy and later, reconstructive surgery.

Danielle continues to work at the school for medical benefits, but has stepped back from teaching in a classroom. She currently works as a paraprofessional, however that job change has drastically cut her income down. In addition, she dedicates her free time as the middle school cheer coach, without any additional pay due to needing to remove herself from the classroom as a certified teacher.

Danielle is a intricate contributor to our community. She spends countless hours with our youth cheer groups. Danielle volunteered for the Liberty Hill Youth League as a board member and has taken on a new board member position, heading off the Legacy Ranch Youth League. Her dedication to our children from school to extra curricular activities is incredibly applaudable and now her family is in need of our support! The family is feeling the financial stress with the medical bills rolling in and will continue to come with her upcoming surgeries that are needed.
