My husband Alan rescues dogs. I help a little but it's mostly him. He works with a few rescues, takes dogs out of a high kill shelter, and finds homes for them. He has brought together over 100 families over the last few years.
When Alan saw "Sam" he knew that he needed to save him from death. Sam is a beautiful shepherd mix with, according to the people at the shelter, a sweet personality.

Alan set up a foster and had a couple of people interested in adopting Sam. Unfortunately, the first night at the foster he broke through the gate, ran away, and got hit by a car. He ran away from that but was picked up by animal control the next day and taken to the local shelter (not the same one).
We were able to pick him up the next day. They had x-rayed his leg and splinted it, but stated that it was a multiple fracture that would probably need surgery.

Sam is back with the foster but he is in a lot of pain and can't put any weight on his fractured leg. We have contacted a vet who estimated that the surgery would cost between $3,000 and $3,500.
We really want to help Sam but this is way beyond our reach, especially since my hours have been reduced substantially because of Covid. We understand that many other people have been affected as well, but donations of any amount will help.
Our goal is to get Sam his surgery and to find him a loving home. He deserves this second chance to be loved. We will be so grateful for anything you can give.
