My name is Tyra, and I’m a single mom doing everything I can to stay alive for my little girl. I have a serious heart condition — my tricuspid valve doesn’t close properly, causing blood to flow backwards and a resting heart rate around 100 times per min. My doctor says I can’t wait any longer. I urgently need a robotic heart valve repair to survive.

The procedure would fix my valve instead of replacing it, allowing for a faster recovery and a longer-lasting outcome. But the problem is — I’ve lost the paid time off I saved for surgery, and my health insurance may end soon. Without help, I can’t afford the procedure or the recovery time.

I’ve delayed the surgery for six months trying to work as much as possible, but my condition keeps getting worse. My chest hurts constantly, I lose my breath easily, and I’m exhausted all the time. I’ve kept showing up for work because I have bills to pay and a daughter depending on me, but the truth is, I’m running out of strength.
