On Wednesday, November 13, we were saddened to learn of the loss of a dear friend, teammate, proud mother and grandmother. Veronica Rodriguez Davila was one of a kind - genuine, hardworking, honest, loving and generous.  She had the ability to see the preciousness in all people no matter their walk of life. She was the most kindhearted, wise friend whom we were blessed to know and whom we will miss every day.

San Antonio has lost a champion for women and families and an advocate and teacher whose wisdom has touched and changed so many lives. She is well known in the community as the foundation of the San Antonio P.E.A.C.E. Initiative and as a Parent Educator for the Martinez Street Women’s Center. She transformed the lives of many and left a legacy of healing the families so fortunate to know her. She never hesitated to help others in need, and we are truly hoping you can extend that gracious spirit back to her and her family at this devastating time.


Vero was born in San Antonio, TX in 1952. She grew up on Jean Street, where she forged lasting memories with neighborhood family and friends. She went to Johnson Elementary, Cooper Middle School and Lanier High school. Vero was extremely committed to her spiritual home, Santa Fe Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the first ever chapter of the Daughters of the King. Vero adored her family, a tight knit group for which she was a shepherd of love, hope, forgiveness, and acceptance. She was the proud mother of Lisa Luna, Enoch Diaz and Maricela Diaz-Wells (Stacie) and an immensely proud grandmother to 8 beloved grandbabies, Alejandro, Erica (Beto), Nadia, Mariah, Victoria (Jacob), Haidy, Amadeo, and Mateo.

 

She will be greatly missed and cherished forever.
