House recovery fund for Alissa Nittinger

For those who may not know Alissa Nittinger, she is my dear friend who is a registered nurse at UC Davis Medical Center. A wife, a mom to two beautiful daughters, and a caretaker to everyone around her.


Alissa, her husband & two young daughters lived in the Vacaville Hills near Davis, where we went to college together. Her ranch-style house sat on top of a hill overlooking Vacaville and she had a small farm with goats, a cow, a donkey, chickens and garden. Just two weeks ago, I admired her garden full of peppers, melons and bees resting on sunflowers. Her girls played in the pool, fully enjoying the hot summer day. Living in Vacaville, you get to have your own slice of paradise, and it was truly wonderful. 


All that disappeared overnight on August 18, 2020. The Hennessy Fire blew down from Lake Berryessa and engulfed her home and farm in a matter of minutes. Although she and her family are safe, it is devastating to lose everything in an instant. With the compounded stress due to COVID-19, the financial strain is magnified. It is difficult enough trying to figure out how to navigate life under quarantine and safety protocols, let alone adding a fire disaster on top of everything.
