I find myself in the most unimaginable position. I never thought It would come to this but, my famy and I need help to bring my dad home.  My father at the age of 66 found himself victim of an online scam 2 years ago which led to my dad being arrested in Japan for drug offences.  My dad Frank had never smoked in his life and had allways spoken against drugs.  I have no answers for his actions.  I do know that as he became older he was becoming noticebly withdrawn, not engaging and refraining from his usual activities.  I just wish I had taken more notice of how much he had declined into a depression.  Now I find myself 2 years on since this happened to being informed my dad had passed away in a medical facility/prison in Tokyo. I am totally heart broken. My fathers health declined in september 2019 and at this point after being informed he was in critical condition I flew out to be with my dad. He had been moved from the detention centre to a hospital. When I arrived I was distressed to say the least at the condition my poor father was in, he was under malnourished and his body was so thin and wasting away to nothing. He was hooked up to respiratory machines to assist his breathing, not to mention the other machines he was hooked up to. He was unconsious and being fed through a nasal tube. I could not believe what I was seeing. My dad was a diabietic prior to this but he now had pneumonia, sepsis  pulmonary embolism and disuse syndrome.
When I had to leave to return to tbe UK I was devastated but ,my dad did fight his illness at the hospital and became stable enough to return to the detention centre. My father by this point had a trachostomy in place to assist his breathing. A year passed and there was not much improvement in his health. He was bed ridden due to the dissuse syndrome and could not say much. Then friday 16.10.2020 I received the awful news that my father had passed away due to multple organ failure after his health had rapidly deteriorared. Unfortunatly there is no travel or life insurance policy in place and everything has fallen to me to deal with.  My family and myself do not have the funds to cover the repatriation cost. I know a lot of people will not be sympathetic due to my dad's actions but I truly believe had he been in a good place mentally he would never have done this.  He was a good grandad and loved gardening. He worked hard all his life, payed his way and helped others along the way. He helped organise a fishing club for young choldren during school holidays. Also we his family would like the chanceto say our good bye and lay him to rest in the uk where he belongs.
