hey! my name is jyssel kelsall.
2 months ago, my 13 year old brother T.J. was diagnosed with a very rare brain tumor, affecting his neurological system.
after a stroke-like episode, my mom quickly rushed him to Capital Health Hopewell. He was then transferred to New Brunswick's Robert Wood Johnson children's hospital. there were 4 abnormal MRI's that showed abnormalities in his spinal and cerebral fluid. they performed a lumbar puncture which took over 4 weeks for results. he was discharged within 2 weeks. 2 weeks of question marks. waiting around for answers they never gave us. they labeled my brother as a "medical mystery" and let him go home. he had 2 more episodes in less than a week of being home.
the cycle repeated and T.J. was rushed to Capital Health Hopewell again. this time, he was transferred to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia by request. in which further studies were done, he was there for a month and half. between seizure meds, chemotherapy, and intensive rehab, he was sent home. since day one, my mom had not been able to work. she has been forced to go on medical leave to be able to provide for the needs of my baby brother who is battling this rare cancerous tumor that has left him with deficits that has affected his ability to take care of himself. my mom has always put everyone before herself. she never asks for help from anyone. so here i am. because not only am i afraid, i know she is too. afraid of losing everything she's worked for her whole life. between medical bills, household bills, copays for all medications, & several weekly trips to CHOP for chemo, things get harder by the day. my dad lost his job. he has been with us for the last two almost three months. traveling back and forth from philadelphia to new jersey. we used his car for everything. not only does my mom need help, but my dad does too. this hasn't been easy on any of us. mentally, physically, emotionally, & economically, this is hard. watching my family go through this is heartbreaking. not being able to help hurts worse.
if you could find it in your heart to donate, or even share, i promise... anything helps ❤️ thank you in advance.
