Hi, I'm TJs niece Candice. My uncle has always been super man. He has worked many years as a master stylist in Fresno. He's been the sole caregiver of his husband Tom through his multiple illnesses, surgeries, and cancer throughout the years. Together they have 2 wonderful boys through a long adoption journey! Both boys being autistic, TJ spends many extra hours advocating for their wellbeing, education, and development. He has always gone above and beyond for his family, his home, and his work. He even took me in as a teenager many years ago so that I could go to school and start my life as an adult.
TJ was born with severe scoliosis along with other birth defects including (newly discovered) spina bifida. During childhood he endured many painful surgeries that have allowed him to achieve all that he has. Recently, all of his nonstop work, care, and independence have come to a screeching halt. I'm very sad to say that he now has a THIRD type of scoliosis that is causing his lower spine to be twisted as if it were a rag being wrung out (that's why we can now see the spina bifida through imaging). TJ is now bedridden in a way that only allows him to stand or walk for 5-10 minutes at a time. Even when he is up, he is in excruciating pain, is dizzy, and has worsening nausea. In the past month alone he has had 3 Emergency Room visits! He's suddenly no longer able to care for himself, his family, or work/run his business. TJ is waiting to be approved for Medicare/Medicaid/Medi-cal as well as In Home Care and permanent disability (he will not be returning to work). For now he's living off of savings and credit cards to pay for healthcare, equipment such as his wheelchair, household bills, etc. His funds are dwindling quickly and I ask you to please stand by TJ and his family through these tough times and donate whatever you can to help them out.
Thank you,
Candice and the Gregory-Woolley Family
