Titusville Police Department K9 Program

The Titusville Police Department is requesting help with the start-up of our K-9 program. The K-9 program is being funded completely by private donations, grants and other contributions. In total, the Titusville Police Department is attempting to raise $75,000, which will cover the cost of the K-9 and training, a police cruiser designed specifically for the needs and care of the K-9 and all of the necessary equipment (bulletproof vest, bite suit, collars, etc.).

Our police department encounters many narcotic related crimes, both against persons and property. These crimes are often a direct result of the use of Methamphetamine, which has plagued this city and the surrounding communities. The K-9 program will certainly assist our department in the fight against narcotic usage and trafficking; all of which impacts the quality of life for those who live in the city, attend our schools, receive services from our hospital and visit our city for business or pleasure.

In addition to the above, the Titusville Police Department has purposely and consciously worked to improve the relationship that we have with our community. We have made significant strides in that effort; examples of that are our annual Haunted House, National Night Out and the addition of a School Resource Officer. It is our belief that a K-9 would boost that effort. Our department did have a K-9 program in the past (Kai passed away in 2012) and the community fell in love with him. We are confident that this will once again help to bridge that gap between our citizens and officers.
