Tito Ferdie's Transplant Fund
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
Please help us raise some funds for Tito Ferdie's Kidney Transplant this coming June!
Growing up, I always saw my small family sharing our resources with our extended family living in the Philippines. I will always remember filling up a shopping cart with Lola with goodies from the States; and then later in the week, the satisfying feeling of finally taping the balikbayan box closed. Sometimes it would be so full that it was more of a challenge to close the box than to fill it up!
I may not have realized it then, but the short time and money we spent for others really instilled a sense of connection with my distant family. Each precious memory of time spent with my parents, Lola and sister, packing and sending a box serves as a reminder that my wealth, no matter how small, can amplify joy when shared with others. Now that I have grown up, starting a family of my own, giving back and sharing is a habit I want to continue with my family and my future children.
My dad's baby brother, my Tito Ferdie, has been a real joy to get to know as I have gotten older. He loves to have fun, spend time with his family and jokes are never far away. In recent months, he has had to begin dialysis treatments for his failing kidney. Although he keeps his good humor and loving demeanor, his suffering is evident, as it is with many dialysis patients.
With support from our family overseas, in the States, and hopefully anyone willing to share their generosity here on GoFundMe, we hope to improve Tito Ferdie's health and extend his life this coming June by helping to fund his kidney implant.
My family growing up was small, only me, my little sister, mom, dad and Lola. In times of need and crisis in the Philippines, it was easy to share our resources with close family. Now, with so many international media outlets, it's so easy to connect and to give to a worthy cause. I truly believe that sharing even a little of what we have, can truly amplify the good we see in our own lives. So please consider paying it forward and helping us pay for a kidney transplant for my uncle, Tito Ferdie :)
Love and best wishes,
