My name is Jessica D. Royal, and I am reaching out with the most urgent plea of my life. I am a proud U.S. veteran, a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), and—most importantly—the only daughter of my dad. You could say I was spoiled as a little girl.

My father has been fighting for his life in Wisconsin, cycling through multiple hospitals and long-term care facilities. Despite every effort, his condition has only worsened. He is ventilator- and tracheostomy-dependent, requires frequent suctioning and lavage due to dangerous mucus plugging, and has faced septic shock, recurrent pneumonia, malnutrition, and multiple ICU admissions. He now suffers from hospital delirium, which grows worse every day he remains isolated and away from his family.

Doctors have made it clear: ground transport is not safe. My father needs an air ambulance to be transported to New York, where I live with my family. Here, he will finally have access to the critical care he needs, and—equally important—the love and daily support of his daughter, granddaughters, son-in-law, and even his ex-wife, who is ready to assist with caregiving.

The challenge: the cost of this air ambulance transport is over $25,000. Despite my efforts with Medicaid, Medicare and the VA, the process has stalled, and time is something my father simply does not have. Every delay risks his life.
