Title: In Loving Memory of James “Jimmy” Daniels

Story:

On November 16th, 2024, my world was forever changed when my little brother, James Alexander Daniels—known to all as Jimmy—passed away at just 20 years old. He was a baby taken far too soon. Jimmy was born with special needs due to a lack of oxygen to his brain at birth. For as long as I can remember, he required full-time care: from walking, feeding, bathing, and everything in between.

Jimmy was a true fighter, and despite the challenges he faced, he was always a happy, bright light in our lives. He taught me so much about resilience, love, and joy, and for years, he’s been my purpose and my priority. I used to joke that he was my “first-born” because I have loved and cared for him as if he were my own child.

I have cared for Jimmy as long as I can remember, as if he were my own. For the past five years, he has lived solely with myself and my brother Jake, completely dependent on us for everything. We worked hard to ensure his care was always a priority, and he was our focus every single day.

But now, with the loss of Jimmy, everything has changed. Not only are we grappling with the deep grief of losing such an incredible soul, but I am also facing a new reality. I will no longer have my job through IHSS due to his passing, and this leaves me struggling to find a way to support my sons and my other brother while also trying to navigate this overwhelming grief.

On top of all of this, I am now faced with the daunting task of providing a memorial for Jimmy that honors his life, his spirit, and the love he gave us all. Navigating the emotional challenges of losing him is hard enough, but we are also left wondering how we will manage financially over the next few months as we work through this painful transition.

To my friends, family, and kind strangers: I am not one to ask for help, because I am the person who is always there for others, offering support whenever I can. But right now, I find myself in need of that support. This is where we need your help. The funds raised here will go toward Jimmy’s memorial expenses, as well as to support my family during this difficult time of transition.
