Hello. My name is Brooke Roelofsen and I'm the co-founder of Nexus Homes, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people in recovery transition back into life with dignity, community, and support. Today, I'm asking for your help to open our second residence - an all-women's home that we are calling Billi’s House in dedication to my mother, Billi Roelofsen (McDonald).
Billi passed away at age 62 from an alcohol-related disease. Though she successfully completed multiple treatment programs, every time she returned to everyday life, relapse eventually drew her back. I believe that if she had an alcohol- and drug-free environment and been surrounded by people that supported a sober lifestyle, she may still be alive today.
That belief is what drove me to co-found Nexus Homes.
Your donation will go directly toward:
• Securing a house and covering initial rent / mortgage
• Renovations to create safe, comfortable bedrooms, bathrooms, common areas
• Furnishing the home with beds, furniture, kitchen essentials
• Utilities, insurance, and ongoing maintenance as we get off the ground
Why your support matters:
When someone leaves rehab, the absence of structure, accountability, and community make sobriety fragile. Homes like ours help fill that gap - significantly raising the odds that recovery becomes a lifelong process.
By contributing to The Billi House, you're doing more than funding a building. You're giving women in recovery a fighting chance, letting them know they are not alone and honoring Billi’s memory.
