Hi, my name is Sean, and I'm going to be attempting to run 70000 lengths of my son's hospital ward.
What should have been a year in which we celebrated and enjoyed the birth of our 3rd child, has unfortunately turned into a waking nightmare.
Born on the 28th of March, Morley immediately stopped breathing and after being resucitated was transported via PANDA to the NICU in Addenbrookes hospital.
Devastatingly, this was just the start as it turned out that he had severe kidney damage and he was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney disease. The severity of this resulted in Morley being moved further from home to the specialist Renal ward in Nottingham where he has been since.
Morley will require dialysis on a daily basis until he is big enough for a transplant (around 2 years). This period of time is critical and unfortunately a lot of kids don't make it to that point.
At a minimum, Morley will remain in hospital for another 2 months, but even when home, will require 12 hour, daily treatments of dialysis, administered by myself and his Mum.
My goal is 3 fold and any money raised will be split 3 ways.
Firstly, I wish to raise money for the Sick Children's Trust, who helped house us so that we could be close to Morley when he was in intensive care.
Secondly, for Kidney Research UK in order to support continued advances in treatment.
Thirdly, for my family, so that I can take additional unpaid time off from work and focus on the care of both Morley and my other 2 children (myself and their Mum are currently swapping every 3 for 4 days at the hospital so that one can stay with Morley while the other cares for our other 2 children).
Your help is truly incredibly appreciated.
